Shaping Our Place

Shaping Our Place has finally taken shape!

Shaping Our Place, part of the Shared Spaces and Services thematic area, was part of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s €4.3m European Union PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.

The Programme aimed to focus on individuals and groupings of people who represented their respective areas, hoping to derive ideas and concepts from them so that their “place” could be shaped in some way by an installation of artwork, sculpture or enhancement.

The initial part of the Programme took participants through workshops with artists and other members of the other 8 communities to articulate how best they felt their area should be represented.

Needless to say the projects developed and then halted, temporarily due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, and then continued and completed. Now with a selection of sculptures, Community Gardens and a Community Log Cabin, the respective communities have marked their communities in a fitting way.
