Limavady hosts International Craft Exhibition

roevalleyPRESS RELEASE Tuesday 16th June 2015 Limavady hosts International Craft Exhibition Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council invite residents and visitors to the Borough to enjoy a major crafts exhibition taking place in Limavady. The event will feature twenty international craft makers from 12th June until 22nd August 2015 at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, one of Council’s prime arts locations. On tour from the acclaimed ‘Flow Gallery’ in London, the ‘Forming Words’ exhibition features works in contemporary craft in jewellery, ceramics, textiles, paper, metal and stone.  The exhibition features the work of craft makers hailing from South Korea, Japan, Finland, Sweden, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. The exhibition will coincide with ‘August Craft Month’, the annual craft initiative orchestrated by Craft NI. Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre will also host various craft educational activities alongside the stunning exhibition. Desima Connolly, Arts Officer and Centre Manager at Roe Valley Arts and Culture Centre commented, “The centre is delighted to host this stunning contemporary crafts exhibition which presents the work of twenty international makers to the North West. This is a major crafts show for the entire Causeway Coast and Glens BoroughCouncil area. Desima continued, “I’d like to thank Flow Gallery for their assistance and co-operation. The gallery had asked the selected artists to create new work based on a piece of writing of their choice, be they from a poem, song lyrics, personal writing or letters. “The works, which include vibrant wall pieces by Debbie Smyth, explores how text can inspire form and structure in contemporary craft. This may be in the shape of the words or the lines and curves which inspire the work. I’d encourage everyone to visit the centre before 22nd August to enjoy this exhibition.’

The exhibitions can be viewed at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre from Mondays until Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9.30am-5pm and on Thursdays and Fridays from 9.30am until 9.30pm.
