Consultation closes 28th SEPTEMBER 2025

Dungiven Public Realm Scheme

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is inviting community feedback on exciting new proposals to enhance the heart of Dungiven through a Public Realm Scheme and the development of a new Enterprise Hub at 72/72A Main Street (old Hands that Talk building), funded via Council’s Growth Deal. These plans aim to revitalise the town centre by improving streetscape quality, enhancing pedestrian safety and accessibility, creating attractive public spaces, and supporting local enterprise and community activity.

The proposals have been developed to reflect the needs and aspirations of the local community, and we now want to hear your views to help shape the final designs. Your input is vital to ensuring that the outcomes of this project reflect the identity and ambitions of Dungiven.

What is Council’s Growth Deal?

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has an indicative offer from the UK Government and the NI Executive for a Growth Deal of £72m to promote the economic development of the region.

The overarching objectives for the Council’s Growth Deal are agreed as follows:

  • Position Causeway Coast and Glens as the ‘go-to’ region for business and pleasure
  • Regenerate some of the area’s smaller settlements into thriving and sustainable rural economies
  • Attract, support and grow more business, with a focus on export
  • Improve key elements of the tourism transport network and tourism destinations
  • Work with education and employers to improve employability and skills

The regeneration of Dungiven has been prioritised by the Elected Members and Council welcomes feedback on the current plans. These engagement sessions are critical for Council and the Design Team to gain insight into the preferred design for the public realm and to understand the expectations around the proposed enterprise hub.

These proposals will evolve as the community provides its feedback and Council plans to submit an Outline Business Case to the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) in late Autumn.

Once funding has been secured, more detailed designs will be developed and consulted on again in 2026.
