If you operate a food business you may need to be approved by your Council. Examples of types of premises that are required to be approved by Councils are stand-alone (i.e. not attached to a slaughter house, cutting plant or game handling establishment) such as:

  • meat products plants
  • meat preparation plants
  • minced meat processing operations and mechanically separated meat processing plants
  • cold stores
  • dairy establishments
  • fishery product establishments
  • egg product establishments

You should contact your Council to see if you require approval.
