Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, in collaboration with Limavady Volunteer Centre and Causeway Volunteer Centre, hosted three celebration beach events during Volunteers’ Week which took place from 1-12 June.
The events, held on Benone Beach, Portrush West and Ballycastle seafront, were organised to thank local volunteers who give up their time and show such dedication to the work they do in the community. The rain held out and over 250 people participated in the events which were a roaring success.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey stated, “As one of my first official duties as Mayor I was delighted to attend the events, which were really important as a way of allowing us to show how much we value the hard work and dedication of volunteers within our communities. Very often these people don’t see themselves as being ‘volunteers’ and give of their time and energy without complaint.”
Volunteers’ Week is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK. For further information please visit www.volunteersweek.org or www.causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk.
