Shop owners and businesses have been praised for creating beautiful Christmas window displays in towns and villages across the Causeway Coast and Glens.

Their efforts have helped provide a warm welcome to shoppers and visitors while greatly enhancing the festive atmosphere.

This year Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council extended its window dressing competition to include Ballykelly, Bushmills, Cushendall, Dungiven, Garvagh, Kilrea, Portrush and Portstewart along with Ballycastle, Ballymoney, Limavady and Coleraine.

Applauding all those who took part, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Brenda Chivers said: “The level of creativity and artistic skill has been quite amazing. This year, the Council has been promoting a ‘Shop, Eat, Enjoy Local’ Christmas campaign to stimulate support for our shops and businesses. The beautiful window displays are real attractions in our towns for both residents and visitors, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere and encouraging people to spend more time in our local businesses.”

Town and Village Manager Julienne Elliott added: “Congratulations to all those who took part in this year’s competition. The standard continues to grow, and the judges had great difficulty in selecting only one winner and one runner-up from each town. It is great to see how our local shops and businesses are putting in that extra effort to provide the welcoming and enjoyable town centre experience that makes our Borough such a special place”.

The winners and runners-up in each town were as follows:

Ballycastle: Flowers at Anne’s (winner) and Crafty Creations (runner-up)
