Beat the Freeze, whatever the weather!
NI Water is calling on the public to be prepared for winter – whatever the weather.
While we have been fortunate with mild winters in recent years, this can also lead to complacency when it comes to winter proofing our homes and businesses.
The company is issuing a strong message to the public to check that homes and businesses are properly prepared for potential cold weather.
Sara Venning, Chief Executive, NI Water said: “It is so tempting to put off preparing your property for winter, especially when the recent winters have been quite mild. However, help ‘Beat the Freeze’ by taking a few minutes now to check that water pipes are protected and well insulated. Ensure everyone living in your house knows where your stop valve is and keep the contact
number of a registered plumber on hand to deal with any bursts on your property. Action taken now can save money, time and heartbreak in the future.
“The devastation caused by burst pipes cannot be underestimated. Not only can the water cause structural damage, but the lasting damage in a home can be to personal items, including photographs and electrical equipment such as tablets, iPads and laptops, that may not be replaceable.
“On a wider scale, insulating your pipework is an essential action to protect your water supply and that of your neighbours.”
