Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council develops new PEACE IV Plan for 2014-2020 with an opportunity to bid for up to €4,400,788 for the area
Under PEACE IV, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has been provided with an opportunity to develop a new PEACE IV Plan. The aim is to build upon the experience of previous Peace Programmes by tackling the remaining challenges that exist in building positive relationships and developing shared spaces across the Borough.
This Programme has four key priority areas, against which Council plans to focus on three. These are: Children and Young People, Shared Spaces & Services and Building Positive Relations. Council has an opportunity to bid for up to €4,400,788 for the period 2016 to 2020 across these three themes.
Information will be gathered from public and various stakeholder groups within the borough, which include: statutory, private sector, trade unions, elected members and the voluntary and community sector, as part of the consultation process, prior to any decision being made on how funding will be allocated. To source information about the Peace IV Programme, it will be available on Council’s website and social media, www.causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk. As the Programme progresses, information and support will be available for those who are interested in participating.
Council will aim to tackle issues such as racism and sectarianism and embed the concept of reconciliation into the objectives and desired results of the Programme. It will also be aimed at promoting cross-community and cross border relations and understanding.
For the plan to be as effective as possible, it is important that it is guided by local people who understand the challenges and needs of local people. A series of Information Sharing and Planning Events, as outlined below, have been organised in order to inform people about the new Peace IV Programme and how they can engage in it.
Council is also developing a Causeway Coast and Glens PEACE IV Member Database for those groups and individuals interested in being informed and updated about the Causeway Coast and Glens Peace IV Plan. To register, go to Council’s website or do so at one of a series of public meetings taking place across the Borough. All meetings will commence at 7.00pm ending approximately 9.00pm. These are:
- Tuesday 8th March 2016 in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, Main Street, Limavady
- Thursday 10th March 2016 in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Sheskburn House, 7 Mary Street, Ballycastle
- Wednesday 16th March 2016 in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Joey Dunlop Centre, Garryduff Road, Ballymoney
- Monday 21st March 2016 in Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Flowerfield Arts Centre, 155 Coleraine Road, Portstewart
A final collective Round Table Workshop Action Planning event will take place on the 14th April from 7pm until 9pm. Venue to be confirmed. This will focus on all three themes identified.

Council also plans to host a number of Focus Groups across the Borough which will target a range of interested groupings such as young people, church groups, cultural and heritage groups, ethnic minority groups and more.
