Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council launch its NW200 Race Week Festival programme

As the weeks draw closer to the world famous Vauxhall International North West 200, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has provided details of its Race Week Festival which will run from 9th until 16th May 2015 throughout Portrush, Portstewart, Coleraine and Balllymoney. Council unveiled its new road sign as part of its year-long promotion of the event this week, pictured is Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Michelle Knight-McQuillan, Mervyn Whyte, North West 200 Event Organiser and Jamie Hamilton, NW200 rider. The sign has become a hotspot for supporters of the North West 200 to be photographed at. The Vauxhall International North West 200 Race Week Festival will run from 9th until 16th May 2015.

The festival will support the Vauxhall International 2015 North West 200, providing residents and visitors with an exciting week of activities with events designed for all ages The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Michelle Knight-McQuillan stated, “The programme offers something for everyone, beginning on Saturday 9th May with Mini Moto Racing at East Strand from 10.00am until 5.00pm. “Also on the programme is the very popular Family Motor Fest on Wednesday 13th, a free concert with Creedence Clearwater Revive and the spectacular fireworks display on Friday 15th May plus much more throughout the week-long festival. “This is an exciting year for Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council. Having merged the Council areas of Coleraine, Moyle, Limavady and Ballymoney from 1st April 2015. The Vauxhall International North West 200 is one of the new Council’s first major events for the year. “Council proudly sponsors the Race Week Festival, which helps to deliver high profile tourism and economic development opportunities for the Borough. There’s a great line-up of events planned ahead of the big race on Saturday and I’d encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the festivities” Road closures are expected to be in place on Tuesday 13th May from 9.15am until 2.45pm and Thursday 12th May from 9.15am until 2.45pm for the official practice races. Additional closures include Thursday 14th May at 9.15am until 2.45pm and 5.15pm until 9.00pm for Supersport, Supertwin and Superstock racing. Roads will again be closed for the big Vauxhall International North West 200 race finale on Saturday 16th May from 9.30am until 7.00pm.
