Causeway Speciality Market Continues to Grow The Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Causeway Speciality Market, is a bustling speciality food and craft market held in Coleraine town centre on the second Saturday of each month from 9am to 4pm. For nine years the Causeway Speciality Market has developed and attracted large visitor numbers from all over Northern Ireland to Coleraine. The Market is the largest regular outdoor gathering of both artisan food and craft products stalls in Northern Ireland. The well established reputation of the Market has meant that more and more people are attracted to Coleraine to walk around in search for their very own speciality. Whether visitors are looking for fine breads, fresh fish, stuffed olives, exotic cheeses, cookies or arts and crafts for gifts; the Market has increasingly become the place to be! Now the market is expanding and there are opportunities for new traders to become part of the attraction. With more stalls available, now is the time to apply to sell more unique and speciality products at the market. Current traders, have continued to support the market as it grows, stating: “By far the best market we trade at in terms of our sales” – George Kennedy, Curry Sauce, and “Well organised and great customers” – Joan Boyd, Kiltermon Country Bakes. Ends Notes for editors: Causeway Speciality Market was established in 2006 by Coleraine Borough Council with the aim to: run a high quality, professionally managed speciality market that adds value to the town centre; is supportive of local producers; and attracts more visitors to the area. The Market operates from 9am until 4pm on the second Saturday of every month in the events space outside Coleraine Town Hall in the heart of the town. The criteria for trading at the market are that the products on sale need to be either organic or speciality goods. All products must be of a primary produce i.e.:

  • Grown, reared or caught by the stallholder
  • Brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or cooked by the stallholder
  • Made or created in significant part by the stallholder
