Pupils from Cross and Passion College, Ballycastle High School and Dominican College have discussed issues around policing and community safety at a special event in Cloonavin.

The engagement was hosted by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Brenda Chivers.

Pupils were given a brief talk on the work of Council and the Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) before taking part in a Question and Answer session in the Council Chamber.

The panel included PCSP Chair Councillor Margaret Anne McKillop, Vice-Chair Anthony McPeake and PSNI Chief Inspector Ian Magee.

Speaking after the event, the Mayor Councillor Brenda Chivers said: “Engagement is a very important part of my role and I was delighted to have this opportunity to reach out to some of our secondary school pupils.

“It was enlightening for everyone involved to hear their thoughts and gain an understanding of the issues which they are most concerned about within their lives and communities.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part and I wish the young people every success for the future.”
