Community groups get involved with Enterprise Week
Mon, March 11, 2019
An event for community groups has been held at Gortnaghey Community Association during Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Enterprise Week.
It explored the challenges faced by the community sector in sustaining social enterprise skills.
The afternoon event was facilitated by Amanda Johnston from Social Enterprise NI and hosted by Roe Valley Community Network.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Brenda Chivers said: “This informative presentation as part of Enterprise Week 2019 will have given local community groups the tools, techniques and support necessary to turn their idea into a social enterprise. Enterprise Week takes place in the Causeway Coast and Glens area every year and I am once again delighted that we are actively promoting growth and progression within our local area and encouraging further entrepreneurial journeys.”
Amanda Johnston from Social Enterprise NI added “Social Enterprise NI is the representative body for all social enterprises in NI and we are delighted to be working with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council during Enterprise Week. It is fantastic to be able to deliver a training session promoting the business model of social enterprise to the local area, with the aim of inspiring individuals and community and voluntary sector groups to consider setting up a social enterprise and operating as a business.
