Council Focus on the Future of Community Collaboration The Mayor of Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council, Councillor Michelle Knight-McQuillan launched the Community Development Strategy for the new Council on Tuesday 14th April at Coleraine Town Hall The event was attended by a variety of community organisations from across the Borough. The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Council commented “the Community Development Strategy will form and direct the work of community development and grants for the next three years from 2015-2018.” The Mayor went on to say, “Community Development is at the core of the new Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council. Council seeks to support the community sector and provide a tailored service which meets local need and helps prepare for Community Planning, which will be an integral aspect of Council work. “The Strategy was developed through the work of the Community Development Officers within the four legacy councils of Coleraine, Limavady, Moyle and Ballymoney and was carried out in direct consultation with the community sector in all four areas.” The full Strategy can be accessed via the website www.causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk or relevant Community Development Officer at each local office. The Mayor continued, “I am delighted to be part of the launch and I would like to thank the community sector for their attendance and input into the Strategy. “I also thank the Community Development officers for their collaborative work and direction in terms of Community Development and the Strategy and wish you well for the future.” Community Development Officers at Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council have held a number of roadshows regarding the new Community Development Grant Programme which became available recently.
