Council urges the public to stay safe and be responsible

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is urging dog walkers and the general public to enjoy exercise as safely and responsibly as possible.
In these times of restricted social access due to the ongoing pandemic, a daily walk or outdoor exercise is very important for our overall wellbeing. However, it is crucial that this is carried out in line with government direction around essential travel and social distancing. At the same time, Council is also asking dog owners to ensure their pets are kept under control and that they always lift and dispose of dog foul properly. Bag it and place it in your black bin at home or put it in a public bin. There’s no excuse for littering either. It’s important that we all show pride in our Borough by keeping it as clean as possible. Council will take a zero tolerance approach to dog fouling and littering with offenders facing an £80 Fixed Penalty Notice.
Members of the public can help Council to tackle these problems. If you see someone failing to remove dog foul or littering, let us know as this could potentially allow for enforcement action. Details such as car registrations can help to trace those involved.
