Defibrillator funding now available for sports clubs
Tue, January 16, 2018
Funding for defibrillators is now available for sports clubs from the Causeway Coast and Glens.
It's part of an initiative by the Department for Communities and Sport NI which aims to increase the number of potentially life-saving devices in community settings.
96 clubs based in the Borough have already availed of the scheme.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird OBE said it is a hugely important initiative: "We are all too aware of the difference a defibrillator can make in a crisis situation. With this in mind, I would encourage all our sports clubs to apply for this vital funding which will also focus on training people on how to use the equipment if an emergency situation should arise."
Your club may be eligible to receive funding even if it already possesses a defibrillator. It is also important to note that devices obtained prior to 2008 are now obsolete and measures should be taken to replace them.
Applications for funding are open until Monday 5th February at 12noon.
