DEGREES° Exhibition of Photographs at Flowerfield Arts Centre

Flowerfield Arts Centre will be host to photographer, Joyce Ferder Rankin’s DEGREES° Exhibition of Photographs from 2nd of April until 29th April. The exhibition opens on Saturday 2 April 2016 and an invitation is extended to all to come to the viewing from 12.00 noon to 4.00pm

Joyce Ferder Rankin has been travelling to Antarctica and the Arctic observing a “war”. Using her camera Joyce has been documenting the effects of climate change on wildlife and the destruction man is inflicting on the worlds delicately balanced eco systems.

Joyce was born and raised in Philadelphia and began her photo-journalism career there in 1976 at the age of 17, gaining her first experience at a local television station.  She went on to work for many of the world’s top broadcasters including BBC, CBS, ITN ,

 Channel 4 News and RTE. 

As an outstanding camera person she was recognized for her previous work, winning acclaim she includes amongst her many awards 2 Emmys - one for her coverage of the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and another for a programme about the bombing of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. 

Since 1999, Joyce has lived in Portballintrae and recently returned to viewing the world through her camera lens again. Joyce’s career took her to the Falklands War, the Persian Gulf War and the Bosnian War where she was one of the few women at the time, to work as a cameraperson and video editor: covering the world’s hotspots.

Her photographs have been published in National Geographic and other publications worldwide and she has recently been awarded a distinction by the Royal Photographic Society.

The exhibition shows from 2nd to 29th April 2016 in the Main Galleries at Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart. Admission is free. Opening times as follows: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm and Saturdays from 10am-1pm. For further information please contact Flowerfield Arts Centre on 028 7083 1400.
