Don’t wait for the winter to ensure your home is energy efficient
Wed, June 26, 2024
Council’s Energy Efficiency Service is reminding residents of the Borough to take the time to check their home’s energy efficiency before the winter months.
With the growing cost of energy, it’s important for all of us to ensure we use energy in the most efficient way possible, and Council’s Energy Efficiency Service is here to help.
Funded in partnership with the Public Health Agency, the service aims to help residents combat energy inefficiency and signpost them to relevant support, such as the grants funded under the Fuel Poverty Prevention Strategy funded by the Department of Communities or support from the Utility Regulator under its grants as part of the Energy Efficient Carbon Reduction Strategy.
The team can provide:
Advice, information, and energy saving tips.
Help to access grants to address energy issues within your property.
A range of grants can help to create a more energy efficient heating system or a thermally efficient home also providing a more comfortable living environment while reducing costs.
You may be eligible for a grant if any of the following applies to your home:
Heating boiler over 15 years old
Boiler is broken beyond repair
Solid fuel heating only
Liquid petroleum gas heating only
Electric Heating only e.g. Economy 7
Single glazed or poorly fitting or rotten windows
Less that 270mm {approx. 11 inches} depth of insulation in your attic
No cavity wall insulation
Grants can also be used to change from oil to gas when available, subject to applicants meeting the relevant criteria.
