Edwin May Coleraine 5 Mile Classic Returns to Coleraine

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council in association with Springwell Running Club recently launched the 3rd Annual Coleraine 5 Mile Town Centre Run. The ‘Edwin May Nissan 5 Mile Classic’ will take place on Wednesday 10th August at 7.30pm from Coleraine Leisure Centre.
Participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible as entry levels are expected to be high. Participants may sprint, run or jog the five mile course in one of twenty categories. Categories include, an open male and female race, a veterans section for males over 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 or the veterans section for females over 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65. A junior male and female category is open for all aged 15years and over, alongside a male and female wheelchair category.
Shirley Jackson, the event organiser from Coleraine Leisure Centre, commented, “This event has grown from strength to strength over the last couple of years. Many entrants will be participating in their first 5 Mile run, while others will be seeking a personal best on this flat, fast course.’
“I would like to thank the team at Coleraine Leisure Centre and Springwell Running Club, particularly Kenny Bacon for all his advice and guidance over the last couple of years. I would also like to thank Edwin May Nissan for coming on board two years ago and for continuing to sponsor this Race.’
“We look forward to Race night and to welcoming visitors and residents to an evening of fun for everyone.’
Kenny Bacon of Springwell Running Club added, “Springwell Running Club are delighted to assist Coleraine Leisure Centre in the organisation of the ‘Edwin May 5 Mile Classic’. Last year’s event attracted a very large turnout of Club Members and we hope for the same this year.”
