Explore Limavady’s Sporting Life Exhibition at Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre

Limavady Museum is developing a new and exciting exhibition exploring the area’s sporting life through photographs from the Chronicle and Constitution negatives archive. It will be on display at the Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre/Ionad Ealaíon agus Cultúir Ghleann na Ró in Limavady from Saturday 6th August 2016.

Sport has always plaid an important part in Limavady life and the achievements of teams and individuals from the area regularly appear on the back pages of the local newspapers.

This exhibition features photographs of local sporting events from the 1950s right up to the beginning of the 20th century. On display will be Limavady United footballers, boxers from Ballykelly, badminton in Myroe, Gaelic sports in Dungiven as well as rugby, cricket, athletics, darts, bowls and horse racing to name a few.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! - The museum hopes to assemble a collection of material for display including programmes, medals, trophies, playing and non-playing kit, equipment, tickets and other local sports related items and are asking for your help identifying and tracing any relevant objects, photographs or film which members of the public would like to contribute to the exhibition, as a donation or a loan.

The exhibition will be on display in the Centre’s Ritter Gallery from 6th August 2016. For further information, please contact Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre on 028 77760650 or email Daniel.Taylor@rvacc.co.uk.
