Fantastic Film Season Announced at Roe Valley Arts

Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre, Limavady, one of Causeway Coast and Glens flagship arts centres, has announced details of its forthcoming season of films that will be available for viewing throughout the autumn season. The events programme, supported by Film Hub NI and the British Film Institute is designed to cater for everyone in the community and will include new film screening strands. The programme includes ‘Cinescape’ screenings, designed specifically for parents and their babies. ‘Cinescape’ will take place on the first Thursday of each month at 11.00am, the screenings which will include viewing of ‘Boyhood’, ‘The Breakfast Club’, ‘Withnail and I’ are designed to enable parents to enjoy a movie and morning ta/coffee break without having to worry about the noise their baby is making. The ‘Cinecult’ programme will feature classic and new film screenings for adults on the first Thursday evening of each month. The programme will include a few special film events such as a Grease Screening on Friday 21st August, with dance floor space provided and a midnight screening of horror classic ‘The Shining’ on Friday 30th October. ‘Classic Saturday Screenings’, shown on the last Saturday of every month at 2.00pm, will include renowned classics such as ‘Citizen Kane’, ‘Whisky Galore’ and ‘Now Voyager’. The ‘Family Film Screenings’, which will take place on the first Saturday each month include some of the best modern classic family films, including ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Paddington’ and ‘Labyrinth’. Desima Connolly, Arts & Cultural Services Officer at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre commented, “The centre strives to provide our users, many of whom live in rural areas, with an opportunity to enjoy all forms of arts and culture, including film. ‘With film and television industries within Northern Ireland now burgeoning, the centre is focused on developing and promoting a sustainable film programme within the centre for visitors.
