Get your vaccine, urges Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council

Fri, April 16, 2021

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is encouraging people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Slots are now open for everyone aged over 40, with appointments available at easy to access and convenient locations including local pharmacies.

With the recent announcement about further easing of restrictions, Alderman Mark Fielding also wants to remind people that social distancing, regular hand-washing and wearing masks remain crucially important as well.

“It’s testament to our NHS staff and many willing volunteers that so many people have already received their first, and in many cases, their second vaccination dose, he said.

“I was pleased to receive my first vaccine earlier this month at the Seven Towers Leisure Centre in Ballymena and I want to thank everyone involved for a very well organised and efficient procedure.

“For those who may be hesitating or unsure, it’s important to remember that the vaccine will help to safeguard yourself and your loved ones, and it’s a gateway to a more normal way of life for all of us.

“Widespread administration of the vaccine will help us all to get back to the things we have missed, allowing us to reconnect with friends and family and help our economy reopen in a timely way.

“I would urge all those who are eligible to book their slot now, for their own protection, as well as their family, friends and the wider community.

“With further easing of restrictions expected to come in to effect next week I want to remind everyone that public health advice around keeping a safe distance, effective hand-washing and wearing a mask where required remain in place. We can’t compromise the progress we have made to date by overlooking these requirements now so please continue to play your part.”

Appointments are currently available for everyone over 40 years old, alongside those who are clinically extremely vulnerable aged 16 and over at 31st March 2021 and have a shielding letter, and those who have an underlying condition aged 16 -17 at 31st March who have a GP letter.

Everyone who is eligible should book online here where you’ll also find further helpful information.

Alternatively, you can also book your vaccination via telephone on 0300 200 7813 Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm
