Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre welcomed Anushiya Sundaralingam and her exhibition ‘Marankal’ to Limavady at a special launch event on Saturday 19th October.

Originally from Sri Lanka, Anushiya has been based in Northern Ireland for over 20 years, having completed her degree in Fine and Applied Arts in Belfast School of Art. She has continued to work here, as well as exhibiting her work nationally and internationally. Alongside this, Anushiya has been an arts facilitator for numerous public organisations including The Ulster Museum. Her work is included in many prestigious collections including the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Queen’s University, The Open University Ireland and Northern Bank.

The exhibition was officially opened by Councillor Kathleen McGurk and the event was very well attended by a wide selection of the community and visitors from the province. Accompanying the exhibition, Anushiya will provide a free talk based on her practice on Friday 25th October from 2pm-3pm along with a series of print workshops for children and adults. On Saturday 26th October from 12noon – 3pm, children aged 7+ have the opportunity to attend a free natured inspired workshop and in turn create a ‘tree of nature’.

To book any of the workshops please call 028 776 0650 or visit www.roevalleyarts.com

The Marankal exhibition will continue in Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre until Saturday 16th November.
