Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council enjoys the return of live music at Stendhal

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has welcomed the return of live music with a visit to Stendhal Festival.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, 2500 fans were at Ballymully Cottage Farm in Limavady over Friday and Saturday (July 9th & 10th) with a further 5000 due to attend a second event next month.
Stendhal’s return marks Northern Ireland’s first music festival in almost two years following the relaxation of COVID restrictions.
Offering his support to organisers, self-confessed music fan Councillor Richard Holmes said: “Stendhal is a wonderful celebration of creativity, local talent and live music and Council is very proud to support it this year through our Tourism Events Recovery Fund.
“It’s been a difficult time for the live music sector and I hope this weekend’s showcase is just the start of its successful return from the challenging restrictions it has endured. It was inspiring to see people enjoying this much-loved event once again as Ballymully Cottage Farm came to life with Stendhal’s unique sounds and colours.
“I was reassured to see the range of measures in place to keep festival-goers, staff and musicians safe and I would remind everyone to continue to follow public health advice to ensure the wellbeing of everyone as we continue on the pathway to recovery.
“It is thanks to the dedication and creativity of organisers along with the support of the public that the festival is able to resume this summer and I want to offer everyone involved my best wishes.”
Performances this weekend included And So I Watch You From Afar, Lyra, Kila, Ciaran Lavery alongside over 60 other musicians, comedians and family performers.
