Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Officially Open's Harpur’s Hill Community Centre

Pictured at the official opening of Harpur’s Hill Community Centre Rebuild Project which took place on Wednesday 27th January 2016 is Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Michelle Knight-McQuillan with Ann Crawford, Dorothy Bones, Sue McCreadie, Lesley Anne Gamble, Charmaine Bones, Paul Carr of the Department for Social Development, Eileen Devenney, Maud Anderson, Mary McLaughlin and Debbie McLelland.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Michelle Knight-McQuillan, hosted the official ceremony to open Harpur’s Hill Community Centre in Coleraine on the 27th January.

Welcoming guests, which included funding representatives from the Department of Social Development, celebrated the official opening of the Harpur’s Hill Community Centre Rebuild Project.

This location has been recognised as an area of high deprivation, which was previously the Borough of Coleraine. Because of this, it received funding from the Department of Social Development and support from Council in delivering this rebuild project.

The Cross Glebe Community Association carried out an extensive consultation exercise to identify the needs and wishes of the area’s residents during 2012.

The Mayor also recognised the work and commitment to the project, by the late, Phyllis McVey who sadly passed away recently.

In delivering this new forward thinking innovative project, this close-knit community will now benefit from her work, and from the work that everyone who attended has previously contributed to ensure the project took place and was completed.

The Harpur’s Hill Community Centre is central to the families and communities within the Harpur’s Hill Estate and adjoining neighbourhoods.
