The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Ivor Wallace, has paid tribute to Joan Christie saying;

"I was very sad to learn of the tragic passing of Joan Christie, a dear friend of the Borough.

"I had the pleasure of meeting her on a number of occasions in her capacity as Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim (2008-2019) and was always struck by her kindness, sincerity and humility.

"Joan’s outstanding service to the Borough was recognised when she was awarded freedom of the Borough in 2018, and the accolades of CVO, OBE and MBE bestowed upon her speak volumes about how she lived – a remarkable lady whose dedication to charitable causes and work ethic was truly unsurpassed.

"Joan will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her and at this very sad time I want to offer my sympathy and prayers to Joan Christie’s family and friends.  I hope that they take comfort from the many tributes and memories that will continue to be shared as we all reflect on Joan’s inspirational life.”
