Musical evening hosted by the Mayor held in Holy Trinity Church
Mon, December 18, 2017
Holy Trinity Church in Ballycastle provided the beautiful venue for an evening of music, poetry and song recently.
‘Dalriada Sounds’ was hosted by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird OBE.
Speaking afterwards the Mayor said: “I was inspired to hold this event after attending a similar concert during the Heart of the Glens Festival in the summer. I would like to sincerely thank Kieran Dempsey from the Glens of Antrim Comhaltas Group for bringing this wonderful arrangement of entertainment together for us in Ballycastle. It was a fabulous evening made possible by Kieran’s efforts and the contribution of all the wonderful performers.
“Compere Paul McAlister did a fantastic job bringing the programme together and I hope the audience enjoyed hearing his insight into the performances along with the history of the old Dalriada kingdom.
“The ambience in Holy Trinity Church really added to the occasion and my thanks go to Reverend David Ferguson and his congregation for welcoming us so warmly.”
Performers included the Glens and Dalriada U3A Choir, Siobhan Mullan and Seamus Connor along with Comhaltas members and piper Robbie Bellingham. The evening was inspired by the Ancient Kingdom of Dalriada and also included some festive pieces.
