A new Neighbourhood Watch Scheme has been set up in Limavady to coincide with Neighbourhood Watch Week which runs from May 30th –June 5th.

Launched by Causeway Coast and Glens Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), the new scheme covers the Castle Park area of the town.

Neighbourhood Watch, a partnership between local communities, the PSNI and the PCSP, aims to help people protect themselves and their property, as well reducing the fear of crime. A joined-up approach allows for more effective communication between residents and police, with local co-ordinators acting as the primary point of contact.

The annual Neighbourhood Watch Week provides an opportunity to bring neighbourhoods closer together, giving back to one another and helping to shine a light on the communities we live in.

Speaking about the new scheme, Area Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator Jennifer Devlin said:

“I am delighted to see the new Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in Castle Park up and running. This is a close-knit community who have always looked out for one another and I hope the formation of the scheme will further enhance the area by preventing crime and helping people feel safe."

This is the fourth Neighbourhood Watch Scheme established in the Limavady area, with others already in place at Bellshill, Windyhill and Bishops Road.

In total, there are 50 schemes in place in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area, covering over 4000 households.
