Oh Mummy! Halloween Festival covers all of the Borough

A frighteningly good series of events have been announced by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council to ensure this year’s Halloween celebrations throughout the Borough go off with a bang!
‘The Tides Restaurant’ in Portrush will sponsor the Halloween Festival across the new Council area in October, which will include major events taking place in Limavady, Coleraine, Ballycastle and Ballymoney. As it wouldn’t be Halloween without fireworks expect some huge displays, fancy dress competitions, outdoor entertainment and parades throughout the Borough.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Michelle Knight McQuillan said, “Council has worked hard to ensure there are events, many of which are free, for everyone to enjoy throughout the Borough’s areas.
‘These type of events are a great way to bring the community together for a thrilling time with family and friends and of course a wonderful opportunity to display any creative talents you may have with an ‘eye’ catching costume in the fancy dress competitions!’
In Limavady the festival begins on Thursday 29th and continues through to Saturday 31st , activities will include; a scary ‘Halloween Talk’ by Bob Curran, ‘The Scary Art Club’ for children, a late-night screening of “The Shining” and a Halloween Disco and Fancy Dress Competition on Saturday 31st from 3.00pm until 5.00pm. Prizes, sponsored by Roe Valley Chamber of Commerce will be awarded for the most original and imaginative costumes. All these events take place at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, Limavady. The festival rounds off on Saturday evening with entertainment and fireworks at Roemill Road Recreation Grounds starting from 6.00pm.
In Coleraine, ‘Halloween Happening’ will be held at Rugby Avenue Playing Fields on Saturday 31st from 6.30pm until 8.00pm. Entertainment will include; an outdoor concert with ‘The Edition’, a fire show, fancy dress competitions, creepy characters and a huge fireworks display at 8.00pm. Admission is free. The popular fun fair also returns for its annual visit from 3.00pm until 10.00pm.
Ballymoney hosts its first ‘Fireworks Night’ in many years on Friday 30th at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre. The evening will also include; fire poi, a DJ, fancy dress competitions and creepy characters. The fireworks display will start from 8.00pm and is followed by the Halloween Pool Disco, which costs £3.50 for entry. Ballymoney will also host a week of activities prior to the big event which will include; ‘Monster Movies’ at Ballymoney Town Hall from Monday and Wednesday, beginning at 11.00am; ‘Halloween Stories and Crafts’ at the Library on Wednesday; ‘Myths & Legends’, a spooky walking tour which will depart from Ballymoney Town Clock on Wednesday 28th October at 7.30pm.
Ballycastle will hold its ever popular ‘Halloween Parade and Fireworks Display’ on Saturday 31st Festivities begin with a ‘Fancy Dress Competition’ at the car park of Dalriada Hospital at 7.00pm where everyone is invited to join in the parade of floats, skeletons and spiders through the town centre to the seafront for the huge fireworks display at 8.00pm. The evening will also include a DJ and creepy street performers to entertain everyone along the seafront.
