PCSP theatre project for school pupils highlights dangers of alcohol and risky behaviour

Causeway Coast and Glens Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) is highlighting the dangers of cyber safety, alcohol and risky behaviour through an educational theatre production for secondary school pupils.
The ‘Last Orders’ play and interactive workshops launched on Monday 10th January 2021 in Cross and Passion College, Ballycastle, and will take place online and in schools across the Borough until the end of this month.
Written in a hard-hitting yet humorous style, the project is being delivered by Solomon Theatre Company, with each performance followed by a workshop for facilitators, teachers and school pupils.
Developed by a team of doctors, NSPCC professionals and teachers, “Last Orders” is a professional and specialist theatre company production telling the story of three teenagers embarking on an alcohol fuelled night out and exploring the disastrous consequences.
Based on true events, the storyline aims to make young people aware of the physical, mental and emotional impact of cyber safety, alcohol, and risk-taking behaviour.
The project has been running for several years across the Borough and this year a hybrid model of the roadshow is in place, with an option for delivery in school or virtually.
Welcoming the project’s return, the Chair of Causeway Coast and Glens Policing and Community Safety Partnership, Darryl Wilson said: “The PCSP is committed to educating young people about risk taking behaviours along with the dangers they may face growing up, and we want to support them to make positive choices.
“The Last Orders play is an engaging opportunity and the interactive workshops, which include the cast of the play in character, allow students to effectively explore the issues of cyber safety, illegal purchase and attitudes to risk.
“We recognise that schools have faced many pressures over the past few years, however we are delighted at the continued level of interest with participation either within the school setting or through the online version.”
