Portrush Public Realm - Consultation Feedback

Portrush Public Realm - Consultation Feedback

Fri, February 10, 2017

The Outcomes

The extensive consultation process concluded on Friday 27th January.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and our partners would wish to thank everyone who contributed to the consultation which extended to over 250 responses.

While there was a broad range of views, the key themes identified from the consultation were as follows:

  • No change to the current car parking regime.
  • No change to the current main road junction configurations.
  • Revision of the public realm style in and around the Lansdowne area to more accurately reflect the character, charm and ambience of the eastern side of the peninsula.

There is the statutory requirement for some minor amendments to roads and footpaths to ensure they are safe and accessible for all.

The Way Forward

A revised design reflecting the themes arising from the consultation will be displaid at a one day drop-in Information Event which will be held within Portrush town centre during early March 2017.

The Information Event will be advertised in the local press and through Council’s social media channels.

Whilst the scheme cannot be ‘all things to all people’ we will endeavour to develop the scheme that reflects the key themes identified through the consultation.

Following the Information Event, Council will submit a Planning Application. Members of the public will have the opportunity to formally comment further on the design at that stage.

The project remains on target and within the construction constraints with completion planned by April 2019.
