Regeneration Programme information event held in Portrush

A series of information events about Portrush Regeneration Programme continued on Wednesday evening.
Over 50 people attended the meeting in Portrush Town Hall.
The event, led by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, was opened by the Director of Leisure and Development Richard Baker and included a number of presentations.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey said the information events play an important role: “The Council is committed to regular and meaningful engagement with the public. It is important that residents and visitors have the opportunity to be a part of the process, and have their say in future plans for the resort.”
Robert Preston from Aecom, the public realm scheme consultants, outlined the way forward for the scheme, from the commencement of works in early autumn 2017.
James Duffin from NIE explained the substantial upgrading programme currently underway and the £500,000 investment being made in Portrush.
Pauline Campbell, representing the Department for Communities as funding Department, provided an update on both the Urban Development Grant Scheme and the prospects for a Portrush train station. Following this, Richard Baker and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Regeneration Manager Alan Jeffers outlined progress with Council led schemes and local market research.
The next event in the series is scheduled for the summer period and will be advertised through the local press and social media.
