The annual Poppy Appeal

Statement from Mayor Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Michelle Knight McQuillan

“The annual Poppy Appeal is a significant date in our calendar; it is a time to show our appreciation and reflect on those who have given up their lives selflessly in the pursuit of peace and freedom from tyranny.

I would ask residents of the Borough to continue their support and get behind this year's Poppy Appeal.  Remembrance is not just about those who fought in the two World Wars of the last century, but is also about the people involved in the many global conflicts since 1945, and continue fighting for peace and freedom today. We will never forget the men and women who have fought for our country and those who have lost their lives in the process. ‘At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them’.”
