Thousands enjoy Portrush Beach Races
Tue, October 30, 2018
Thousands of people descended on Portrush over the weekend to enjoy the resort’s annual Beach Races.
The spectacle saw part of East Strand transformed in to an exciting race track for bikes, quads and sidecars. With over 100 riders taking part, the audience enjoyed lots of thrills and spills in one of the Causeway Coast and Glens most scenic coastal locations.
Organised by Foyle District Motor Cycle Club with assistance from a range of organisations including Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, the event was first held in Portrush last year and since then it has proved to be a resounding success.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Brenda Chivers who was on hand to enjoy the action for herself said: “This was a fantastic event for Portrush and its popularity was clear from the huge numbers in attendance. I would like to offer my congratulations to all the riders who took part and helped to create such a display for us all.
“The organisers deserve a lot of credit for bringing an event of this kind to the Causeway Coast and Glens and my thanks go to everyone involved.”
