Ulster in Bloom awards presented to Ballymoney and Dungiven

Ballymoney and Dungiven are celebrating success in the prestigious Ulster in Bloom competition.
Both towns received ‘Most Improved’ accolades at the recent awards ceremony held in Ballygally Castle, marking 40 years of the annual celebration.
Congratulating the local winners, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Brenda Chivers said: “Ulster in Bloom celebrates the efforts of those who work tirelessly to keep our public spaces looking their very best. Floral displays provide creative and colourful focal points in our town centres and they help create positive experiences for our residents, shoppers and visitors. I’m very pleased that efforts to enhance Ballymoney and Dungiven have received this recognition and I would like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone involved.”
Speaking at the Awards, Translink Chairman Frank Hewitt said: “The success of Ulster in Bloom relies on the commitment and talent shown by local councils, community groups and businesses so it’s wonderful to see participant numbers grow as we enter the next decade of the competition.”
The Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition is organised by the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA). Alderman Freda Donnelly, NILGA Vice President said: “I would like to express our appreciation and congratulations to everyone who participates and contributes to the Translink Ulster in Bloom Competition.
“Today’s event is about celebrating you, the 2018 competition winners, for all involved, the competition celebrates the successes that can be achieved when we all come together to take pride in the places where we live and work, and together, create a better environment for everyone to enjoy.”
