Unleash your child’s creativity this July at Flowerfield Arts Centre

Wed, June 19, 2024

Flowerfield Arts Centre invites families to join them for a summer of imagination and creativity with a vibrant lineup of activities designed to captivate young minds. Throughout July, children and young people aged 4-16 years can dive into a world of art, film, and hands-on workshops, promising endless fun and skill-building experiences.

Highlighting the month:

My Cardboard Coast Town.

At the heart of July’s activities is My Cardboard Coast Town, a whimsical and interactive project inspired by the coastal charm of Portstewart and Portrush. Imaginations will soar as young architects and artists design and construct their dream town entirely from cardboard at workshops led by Linda Mulholland and Anann’s Arch. Everyone is invited to witness the town’s grand opening on Saturday 20th July when there will be free family activities to celebrate this extraordinary creation.

Film and Creativity Abound

Families can enjoy Family Film Fridays, featuring enchanting tales like Song of the Sea on the 19th of July, which offers a magical journey into Irish folklore and adventure.

For budding filmmakers, the Cinemagic Young Consultants Programme (25-26 July) invites children aged 8-11 to step into the role of film consultants, shaping the future of cinema by reviewing and programming films for upcoming festivals.

Hands-On Workshops Galore

Throughout the month, Flowerfield offers a plethora of workshops to engage young artists and creators including a series of My Cardboard Coast Town Big Build Workshops.

Alongside this, there will be a ceramics workshops and clay summer schemes with Fiona Shannon, fused glass with Natasha Duddy, Fun with Drums and a creative Autism Workshop with Christina from Meraki Art.

Flowerfield Arts Centre will also host a Lego Animation Masterclass with Can Do Academy and Comic Book Masterclasses with Kev F Sutherland. Kev has previously worked for Beano, Doctor Who, and Marvel.
