Vote for the Giant’s Causeway or Rathlin Island in ‘Best Place’ competition
Mon, September 25, 2017
Two locations in the Causeway Coast and Glens have reached the final of a competition to find Northern Ireland’s Best Place.
The Giant’s Causeway and Rathlin Island are among a list of ten places selected by a judging panel following nominations from the public.
Organised by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), the competition also celebrates the role planners have plaid in helping protect or shape attractions for the public to enjoy.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird, OBE, said: “I’m delighted to see that two places within the Causeway Coast and Glens are included in this competition. The Giant’s Causeway is Northern Ireland’s only World Heritage Site and Rathlin is its only off-shore inhabited island, so both are very special for their own reasons. Their inclusion in the top ten list is testament to the beauty of our entire Borough, and the efforts of our Planning department.”
Beverley Clyde, Chair of RTPI Northern Ireland, said: “The competition has reminded us of the passion we have for places we love. The finalists, places clearly loved by the public, have been protected, carefully planned or improved by the planning system. I encourage everyone to get behind their favourite place to ensure it wins.”
The public can now vote for their favourite, which will be crowned Northern Ireland’s Best Place in November.
Voting is open until Friday 20th October. There are 3 easy ways to vote:
