Young people encouraged to get active with a New Year Activity Programme

Following the end of the Christmas holidays and kids back at school, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is kick starting the New Year with an exciting catalogue of Sport and Recreation activity programmes. This New Year’s ‘Get Active, Stay Active’ programme comprises all the favourites together as well as the introduction of some new ones!

This New Year’s ‘Get Active, Stay Active’ programme offers young people of various ages, abilities and interests something that is sure to cater for their specific requirements and individual needs.

The programme comprises of the Activ8 Wildcats Club (now running on Wednesdays from 4:30pm until 5:15pm), Bambinos (football coaching for 4 to 11 year olds), Saturday Morning Live Sport & Recreation Club, Causeway Junior Netball, Coleraine Junior Hockey, Coleraine West Table Tennis Hub, Coleraine Cougars Special Olympics Basketball Club, IFA Coleraine Strikers Disability Football Club, Portballintrae Bambinos and Causeway Coast Volleyball Club.  Finally, new for 2016 are the Introduction to Cricket sessions and Causeway Trampoline Club.

Roger Downey, Councils Sports Development & Recreation Manager (Coleraine), said; “Our Activity Programme is bursting with quality sporting and recreation based activities now more than ever, each one offers something different for our young people but all uphold the same values and quality delivery.

“Each activity is totally child-centred and will promote learning, activity and FUN!  I think the message from our team is, join in the activities, have fun, get fit, make new friends, catch the sporting buzz and see where it takes you.”
