Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens 2025/2026 Alderman Richard Stewart

Alderman Richard Stewart, representing the Alliance Party, currently serves as Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

A former business owner with over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality sector, he brings a strong understanding of enterprise, tourism, and local economic development to his role.

Alongside his professional background, Alderman Stewart is a dedicated community advocate, actively involved with a wide range of local groups and initiatives that aim to strengthen and improve opportunities across the Borough.

As a father of three daughters, he is passionate about building a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable future for families and communities right across Causeway Coast and Glens.

Alderman Stewart currently sits on both the Audit Committee and the Leisure and Development Committee.


Duties and Responsibilities of the Deputy Mayor

The purpose of the position of Deputy Mayor is to deputise for the Mayor when the Mayor is unable to fulfil the duties of the post, at the request of the Mayor.
