The Community Development Team is launching a programme to help enhance the knowledge and skills needed to drive positive change in your community. Through these sessions, you will learn how to identify and assess local needs, advocate for change, and navigate the workings of Council and the Assembly.

Identifying Community Needs

Date: Wednesday 5th March

Time: 10am-12pm

Location: Windyhall Community Centre, Coleraine

Join us for an informative session focused on exploring various methods of engaging with your community, from gathering feedback to directly involving residents in identifying key challenges. We’ll discuss practical tools for collecting evidence to support your work and ensuring that community needs are clearly understood and addressed.

Inside Council: How Decisions are Made

Date: Tuesday 3rd April

Time: 7pm-9pm

Location: Council Chamber, Cloonavin, Coleraine

This interactive session will be led by the Mayor, accompanied by several councillors and will offer a valuable opportunity for community groups to learn more about the workings of council, the roles of various committees, how decisions are made and how community representatives can effectively engage with decision-making processes.

Visit to Stormont

Monday 19th May

11am-3pm

The bus will make stops in Limavady, Coleraine and Ballymoney. Lunch will be provided.

This trip offers an opportunity to visit Stormont and gain a deeper understanding of how the Northern Ireland Assembly functions. During the visit, you'll have the chance to network with fellow community representatives and gain first-hand insight into the structures, roles, and processes that shape decision-making at the Assembly. The day will include an informative tour, where you'll learn about the workings of the Assembly, and explore how community leaders can effectively engage with and influence the Assembly’s work.
