Causeway Coast and Glens Council Pupil Voice event brings elected members and school pupils together promoting active engagement

Pupil Voice is a programme offered to pupils from all secondary schools across the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area.

It is a joint project with the Education Authority that aims to develop new initiatives that will build confidence, resilience, citizenship, and leadership among young people and raise awareness of diversity.

Pupil Voice - in partnership with the Education Authority

Pupil Voice is a co-design process that develops a project with young people to give them a voice in decision-making. The project aims to encourage young people to consider their role in their local community whilst promoting active engagement in the civic life of the Borough.

The programme assists in raising awareness of how young people can influence decision-making in their local communities and support opportunities for young people to engage with those who represent them in their local area. The programme provides opportunities for young people from different backgrounds to come together to discuss issues of importance to them.

Throughout the first and second terms of the school year, partnering schools come together and participate in a series of workshops. The project concludes with a finale event in Ulster University Coleraine, where a panel session is chaired by Mark Carruthers from the BBC. Pupils get the opportunity to have a round table discussion with elected members from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and then a question and answer plenary session.

If your school would like to become involved in this project, please contact Gerard McIlroy, Good Relations Officer, Email: gerard.mcilroy@causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk or 07517498458.
