A rare musical treat awaits audiences on Saturday 3rd May as The Bridge, Cuba’s most internationally acclaimed guitar duo, takes to the stage at Flowerfield Arts Centre.
In an unforgettable evening of masterful musicianship, renowned Cuban guitarist and composer Eduardo Martín joins forces with award-winning musician Ahmed Dickinson to present a breathtaking performance that bridges generations, genres, and cultures.
Together, they create a seamless fusion of classical, traditional Cuban, and contemporary influences, crafting a sound that is both exhilarating and deeply soulful.
With the guitar as their chosen voice, The Bridge delivers an electrifying repertoire that blends classical stylings with rock, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and cinematic soundscapes. Their performances journey through the musical landscapes of the Americas, effortlessly weaving together son montunos, Yoruba chants, rumbas, funk-boleros, jazz, flamenco, and pop influences.
Martín and Dickinson present a carefully curated selection of Eduardo’s most evocative works for two guitars, demonstrating their extraordinary musical empathy and technical brilliance. Their collaboration is more than a performance—it is a conversation between mentor and protégé, past and present, tradition and innovation.
This remarkable partnership first began in Havana, when Martín, a revered professor at the Superior Institute of Art, recognised Dickinson’s prodigious talent and unique artistic vision. Since their first concert together in London’s Bolívar Hall in 2014, their musical collaboration has flourished, captivating audiences worldwide.
Both artists are acclaimed soloists in their own right, making their duo performances a rare and exceptional experience. Expect a spellbinding evening of virtuosity, passion, and cultural richness as The Bridge takes you on a musical journey across continents and generations.
Tickets are priced at £18 full or £15 concession and are available from flowerfield.org or by calling the Box Office on 028 7083 1400.
