Steinbeck Festival’s Book Cover Competition brings colour and creativity to Limavady

A fantastic selection of artwork created by school pupils as part of the Steinbeck Festival’s Book Cover Competition has added extra colour and creativity to Drumceatt Square in Limavady.
The winning art works have gone on display in lightboxes located around the outdoor space, and they are proving to be a popular addition to the town.
The competition, run by the Steinbeck Festival in partnership with Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Town Centre Management team, invited local primary school pupils to design a new book cover for one of Steinbeck’s works.
The incredible array of entries saw pupils use their imagination to capture their chosen book title, with judges delighted to receive over 300 submissions.
The children behind the 42 winning designs were recently invited to a very special awards ceremony where they were presented with a certificate by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Ivor Wallace.
Congratulating all those involved, the Mayor said: “The winning entries look fantastic in the light boxes in Drumceatt Square and I am delighted that all designs will feature in a public exhibition hosted in Roe Valleys Arts and Cultural Centre’s Community Gallery.
“The competition was very well supported by local schools, and I want to thank all the teachers and pupils for helping to make it such a success.”
The light boxes in Drumceatt Square along with the exhibition at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre will remain on display until March 25th 2023.
