Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens 2026/2027 Alderman Sandra Hunter
Alderman Sandra Hunter, representing the Ulster Unionist party, currently serves as Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.
A full-time farmer who lives and works near the Giant's Causeway, Alderman Hunter serves the Causeway DEA within the Borough.
Her strong connection to rural life brings a practical, grounded perspective to her role and informs her commitment to local representation.
She is dedicated to addressing the issues that matter most to residents, with a particular focus on road safety, infrastructure improvements and the protection of the natural environment.
Known for her approachable manner and pragmatic style, Alderman Hunter is committed to working collaboratively across the Council and with key partners to ensure the Borough continues to prosper as an attractive place to live, work and visit.
Alderman Hunter currently serves on the Environmental Services, Planning and Audit Committees.
She is also an active member of the Portrush and Portstewart Town Forums and the Causeway Coast AONB Management Forum, where she contributes to the promotion and stewardship of the area's outstanding natural heritage.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Deputy Mayor
The purpose of the position of Deputy Mayor is to deputise for the Mayor when the Mayor is unable to fulfil the duties of the post, at the request of the Mayor.
