Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is developing a programme of events to explore and celebrate the local connections of the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The programme explores our rich historical and cultural links to America and local people who have made a significant contribution to America.

For 250 years, the connection between the United States and Northern Ireland has been shaped by migration, heritage, innovation, culture, and friendship. From generations of shared stories to enduring partnerships across communities, business, education, and public life — this milestone celebrates a lasting bond built across the Atlantic.

The programme aims to

• To explore opportunities for the Borough to tie into the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence given the historical connections between Northern Ireland and the United States
• Support Council priorities in community and culture, tourism, economic development and good relations.
• Enhances international profile, strengthens diaspora connections, supports business growth and increases community participation.
• To commemorate the role that individuals from Northern Ireland, played in shaping American history during the Revolutionary era and beyond.
