A warm welcome awaits as Visitor Information Centres open for the new season

Thu, March 28, 2024

Council’s seasonal Visitor Information Centres in Bushmills, Portrush, Rathlin Island and Cushendall have now re-opened in time for the busy tourist season.

VIC’s across the Borough play an important role in the overall tourism experience for visitors to Causeway Coast and Glens, and there’s always someone on hand to give advice on what’s happening locally, recommend attractions or give advice on bespoke experiences.

Staff can provide maps of the local area and visitor guides, offering that friendly and personal touch and the warm welcome that visitors have come to enjoy when they spend time in Causeway Coast and Glens.

The Mayor, Councillor Steven Callaghan said: “The tourism economy is vitally important to Causeway Coast and Glens and we welcome thousands of visitors locally and from across the world every year who all want to experience our unique destination for themselves.

“The Borough’s network of Visitor Information Centres provides a gateway to our world class destination, while encouraging our visitors to explore more of what we have to offer including those experiences that are off the beaten track and unique to the area.

“It is my hope that our 2024 season will be a great success and that locals and visitors alike will experience everything our towns and villages have to offer.”

Kerrie McGonigle, Destination Manager, added: “The Visitor Information Centres are an important part of our tourism offering.

“As well as being a point of contact providing for our visitors, the VICs support the local tourism economy and its stakeholders by actively promoting and selling accommodation, tours and tickets as well as a range of our local food and craft items.

“They offer an opportunity to showcase our tourism products and inspire our visitors, which is beneficial to our trade partners as it connects them to potential new customers.”
