Causeway Coast & Glens is delighted to officially be the first Local Action Group in Northern Ireland to be appointed to deliver the LEADER element of the new Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020.

The programme which is part financed by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, will bring £7.87million of funding to projects within rural areas of the Causeway Coast & Glens Borough.

Patsy Bradley, Chair of Causeway Coast and Glens LAG said, "We are very pleased to now be formally appointed by DAERA to deliver the LEADER programme within the Borough. This is a significant achievement for this LAG and we can now get on with the business of getting the funding out to our rural businesses, communities and dwellers.

"We have been doing a lot of work behind the scenes in preparation of opening for applications and it is fantastic to now be in a position to be able to allow projects to apply, starting with the Rural Business Investment Scheme this month".

The Local Action Group will shortly be inviting applications to the Rural Business Investment Scheme for those who attended the mandatory pre – application workshops in April 2016.  For more information on the Programme and each of the Schemes please visit www.causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk/work/rural-development.
