Roe Valley Arts Centre, Limavady – Halloween Highlights for Kids and Families

Kick off half term week with a Haunted Halloween Open Day on Monday 28 October in Roe Valley. With free admission, families can dive into spooky fun with a Frightenin’ Family Screening of Wolfwalkers*, creative craft sessions inspired by Samhain and Diwali, and a spooky disco with Echo Echo Dance Theatre.

Storyteller Karen Edwards will spin eerie myths from local mythology, while Eurekaseekers will teach you how to brew magical potions… but beware, creepy characters may be lurking around every corner! This film screening is in Partnership with the Cinemagic Young Audiences Supporting the Foodbank Initiative and while tickets are free, booking is essential. Instead of paying for a ticket we ask you to bring along a donation for the foodbank on the day.

For young creatives, there’s a Squishmallows Mixed Media Workshop (29 Oct), Samhain Animal Spirits Mask-Making (29 Oct), and Kumihimo Friendship Bracelets Workshop (29 Oct), offering opportunities to make spooky arts and crafts and on 30 October Jane McCluskey will lead a Children’s Pottery taster.

On Thursday 31 October, the fabulous Banyan Theatre presents Don’t Let the Bedbugs Bite—a delightful puppet show for ages 4-10 that promises fun and giggles for the whole family.

Roe Valley Arts Centre – Halloween Events for Adults

Adults are invited to get in the spooky spirit too!  On Wednesday 30 October, Tenx9 returns with a Halloween theme, expect an evening full of real-life ghost stories, sure to send shivers down your spine. This free, cabaret-style event offers a unique and intimate storytelling experience.

To round off your Halloween festivities, join VOKXEN on Thursday 31 October for The Song of the Bones, an immersive dark theatre performance based on Ireland’s last witch trial. This captivating show, blending music and puppetry.

Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart – Creative Fun for Kids

On Saturday 26 October, children can get hands-on with Halloween crafts at Flowerfield, with Halloween Mixed Media Lanterns workshops with Linda or, they can craft creepy Halloween Clay Lanterns (26 Oct) with Fiona Shannon to light up their Halloween night!

Then, on Thursday 31 October, Flowerfield will host its Haunted Halloween Open Day, where they will also screen Wolfwalkers as part of The Young Audiences Supporting the Foodbank, following that there will be craft sessions exploring our shared heritage and celebrating Diwali and Samhain, storytelling in the Taletime Story Dome and the chance to dance with Echo Echo Theatre’s spooky disco.  Watch out for ghostly visitors lurking around the Arts Centre!

The activities that are part of our Halloween Haunted House Open Days at both centres are made possible with financial support from The Executive Office through Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Good Relations Programme.
