Get active this Easter with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Sports and Activity Programme for young people

Mon, March 09, 2020

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has unveiled its upcoming Easter Sports and Activity Programme for young people.

The jam packed line-up, developed by Council’s Sport Development and Physical Recreation team, is aimed at boys and girls aged between 4 and 14. Activities kick off on Wednesday 15th April and will run until Friday 17th April.

The programme has a new look this year, with opportunities spread throughout the Causeway Coast and Glens area including a new Multi Sport Camp which will be held at Cushendall Youth Club for the first time. In Coleraine, football and hockey will take place at Rugby Avenue while football and the popular Girls ‘Allowed’ Fun Activity Camp will be on offer in Ballymoney at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre. In Limavady, a hockey camp will take place at Roe Valley Leisure Centre along with football at Scroggy Road Playing Fields.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Sean Bateson said: “The Easter programme has so much to offer this year, and I would encourage all young people to get involved. It’s the perfect opportunity to take part in sport and have fun at the same time.”

John Fall, Council’s Sports Development Manager added: “We have a great variety on offer this year with the emphasis on ensuring that our Sports Camps are open to children from throughout the Borough. Our Girls ‘Allowed’ Fun Activity Camp is the perfect mix of fun, sport and dance activities while our popular football, hockey, tennis and multi sports camps provide the perfect way to stay active in the Easter break.”

Sessions will be led by qualified coaches and all necessary equipment will be provided.

It is advised that children wear suitable clothing and footwear throughout the activities and it should be noted that synthetic pitches do not allow metal or aluminum studs.

For all outdoor activities, children are advised to bring a towel and a change of clothes.

The full price for individuals to participate per camp is £20 for the three days. There is also a special family ticket available priced at £50 for three or more children per camp, from the same immediate family.

Enrolment will begin on Friday 20th March at 10am at Coleraine Leisure Centre, Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Roe Valley Leisure Centre in Limavady and Cushendall Development Group.  Application forms are available from March 18th at all these facilities and they are also available to download below.
