Limavady Rugby Club’s 1st XV has secured promotion to Championship One following an outstanding campaign.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Oliver McMullan, formally congratulated the squad at a recent civic reception, recognising their success and commitment throughout the season.

The Roesiders clinched promotion in style with a dominant away victory over Grosvenor, confirming their status as league champions and sealing their place in the higher division.

Speaking at the reception, Councillor McMullan said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the team and everyone involved with Limavady Rugby Club.

“Great credit must go to the players and coaching staff for their hard work, commitment and dedication throughout the season.

“I wish them every success as they take the next step into Championship One.”

The rugby team’s success follows that of the Limavady United’s footballers, who also secured promotion, marking a significant sporting achievement for Limavady.
