Mayor’s reception for Birthday Honours recipients

A special reception has been held in Cloonavin to recognise residents of the Borough included in The Queen’s Birthday Honours.
The Mayor, Councillor Ivor Wallace, hosted the event on Tuesday 6th September.
Offering his congratulations, he said: “The annual Birthday Honours offers an opportunity to mark the extraordinary contributions and service of people across the UK, and I am very pleased to see Causeway Coast and Glens so well represented.
“In this Platinum Jubilee year, recognition of this kind is even more significant and I was very pleased to have this opportunity to meet with some of those commended to find out more about their work in our Borough.
“I would like to offer them my sincere thanks for the valuable contribution they make in our community across their various fields.”
Guests who attended included Gillian Montgomery MBE (for services to healthcare in Northern Ireland, Dr Venie Martin BEM, former Chair of Causeway University of the Third Age (for services to older people in Northern Ireland), Samuel McGregor MBE (for services to Further Education and to the community), Emma Jane Devenney BEM, Classroom Assistant at Drumachose Primary School in Limavady (or services to children with special educational needs) and Margaret Anne Brown MBE (for services to legal education and to charity.)
